4 Signs you Need A New Logo

You may be wondering if it’s time to invest in a new logo for your company.  It can feel like an unnecessary expense, but here are four signs that the time has come, and it’s worth the money:

  1. It no longer represents your business.  Your business may have evolved over the years, and it may now be broader than what is represented in your logo.  For example, if your company started out as a bike shop, but you are now a full-service athletic equipment store, your logo should reflect that.

  2. Your logo doesn’t work well on contemporary media.  If your business’s logo was designed years ago for a non-digital world, chances are it doesn’t adapt well to things like social media and modern website design.

  3. You find yourself liking other logos better.  Take a look at your competitors websites and social media.  Are their logos more appealing than yours? That might mean it’s time for an upgrade, to stay ahead of the pack.  You should feel proud of your own logo and want it to put it on everything that you make.

  4. It just looks dated.  Over the past few years, the trend in logos has been to simplify.  You want a design that works well across multiple different platforms - everything from Twitter to T-shirts.  Many older logos are overly complex, so they don’t translate across media as well, and thus give themselves away as behind-the-times.
